The Boring Company says customers can pay in Dogecoin using the Loop tunnel system in Las Vegas.

The Loop system is still free for passengers to experience and has not announced a specific fee collection time. However, The Boring Company expects ticket prices to be $1.50 per turn or $2.50 per day.

Passengers can scan the QR code on the wall at Resorts World terminal to purchase tickets. Payment options are USD, credit card and Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

The tunnel system project was first announced by Elon Musk in December 2016. He called the venture The Boring Company and began digging a tunnel outside SpaceX’s headquarters in California.

Tesla electric cars running in this system currently have a speed of about 56km per hour, much lower than his original ambition of 240km per hour. The system also does not have a fixed schedule like buses or subways, but passengers only have to wait a few minutes for a train.

To date, Loop has 4 stations in the Las Vegas area and plans to 50 stations here. The Boring Company is also working on projects in Florida and Texas.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin started as an Internet joke in 2013. This digital currency was criticized quite a lot. Even Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer has left the project and announced not to return.

Dogecoin became famous when it was mentioned recently by Elon Musk. One Dogecoin is currently priced at about 7 cents, far below last year’s peak of around 68 cents. The coin has appreciated 4000% last year, but is down 70% in the past 12 months.
